From turmoil to tranquillity – how Bonnie unlocked her country dream

A period fraught with stress, grief and overwhelm
When Bonnie’s mum died in 2024 leaving the family house to her, her husband and her siblings it came with a huge amount of responsibility, at an already difficult & grief-stricken time.
Whilst Bonnie acknowledges it was a blessing to be left such a lovely home, she found herself overwhelmed by the financial and logistical demands of managing an inherited estate. Up until then, she’d been living with her husband in a one-bedroom flat in south London. Suddenly being in charge of a four-bedroom house in North London was a huge leap. They were out of their depth and struggling with the new financial responsibilities. For Bonnie and her family, it was a period fraught with loss, fear and uncertainty.
“Really sadly, my mum passed away last year and me and my husband were left in charge of her house, which is a beautiful home and I’m very lucky. But it comes with a lot of responsibilities – it was difficult.”
Eventually, the inheritance, meant to be a gift, became a source of great stress and sleepless nights. The house came with huge bills, and high levels of maintenance and any of its value was locked behind a complicated probate process. When things got too much Bonnie reached out to a family friend for advice. They researched various options and eventually recommended Provira as a possible source of help.
On first impressions, Bonnie was put off approaching Provira because she had preconceptions about it all being a bit ‘financy.’ She also felt some embarrassment at having to ask for financial help in the first place as if somehow, she should be able to manage without. However, she knew something had to change so she continued looking into what help Provira could provide and started to realise they were just what she was after.
A turning point
It was from this moment that things started to improve for Bonnie. She noticed that Provira’s website made everything feel very accessible which helped her to trust their service and understand how they could help her. After the first phone call with Tracey, she knew immediately they were a kind and supportive organisation, focused on trying to help people at a difficult time. Rather than just offering financial services they seemed to be offering human connection in a time of crisis.
From that first phone call with Tracy, Bonnie felt incredibly looked after and supported. Bonnie describes Tracy as empathetic, supportive and proactive. Tracy guided Bonnie through the paperwork, demystifying the process and reassuring her at every step. She recalls frequent examples of Tracy going above and beyond expectations to make sure all the relevant paperwork was being processed in the right way and that messages were dealt with promptly and smoothly. She describes it as feeling held.
“Tracy understood, she didn’t make me feel embarrassed. The phone calls were always really nice and she was just a lovely woman. I knew that if I needed her, she’d be there.”
With Provira’s support, Bonnie secured the funds she needed, more quickly than she could have imagined. With the advance, she could pay urgent bills, keep the house in good repair, and, most importantly, feel some emotional relief.
“Suddenly I could go and pay all these bills. It was honestly such a relief. And even though I don’t have my parents, I felt some sort of support from them from above. It was really very special.’
New beginnings
More than simply paying the bills, Bonnie felt relieved that the house she’d once loved was being honoured in the way her mum would have wanted. She was able to see the house as a place of possibility again, not just a burden. With the advance from Provira, Bonnie and her husband have been able to start planning their future and fulfill an ambition to move out of London into a countryside cottage… where they hope to buy ducks!
“The money has all gone towards the house. It’s beautiful. Bills are paid. The garden is just so divine. It’s helping me, my husband and my family get to the place where the house will be sold and a new family will come in and we will get our inheritance and start the rest of our life.”
The whole experience of using Provira’s services has been something of a transformation for Bonnie. Having advanced access to her inheritance brought great relief for her family and has helped turn a stressful and tumultuous period into one of hope and new beginnings.
“It’s really helped us, I’m much calmer, more serene. Everything that I’ve been worrying about has really gone. And now we’re moving forward.
I would 100% recommend Provira. They give a great piece of mind for someone that is going through a really hard time.”
