  5. Nina’s story. From breaking

After the death of her husband, Nina inherited the home they had shared together.  Very soon the costs became too much for one person on a single income and things became desperate. Left with the choice between feeding herself or paying the bills, Nina began looking for financial help. This was when she discovered Provira, whose compassionate approach and Inheritance Advance transformed her situation, bringing stability, security, and space to breathe again.

Carrying the weight alone

After Nina’s Husband died a couple of years ago, she inherited their shared home that they’d once lived in together. As well as dealing with the loss of her husband, she was left trying to manage all the expenses of running an old house on her single income. Large bills, ongoing renovation fees, and other estate expenses during probate – like funeral payments – left Nina in an extremely difficult situation. What had once been a shared life in a quirky but cumbersome rural home, was now, for Nina on her own, becoming an extreme burden.

“Each day I was faced with the question: should I buy groceries, pay bills or some of the credit card balance?”

Looking for specialist financial support.

Exhausted from working long hours, grappling with grief and drowning in costs, Nina decided the best way out of this situation was to sell the house she calls home. This means when it is sold, Nina will also have to deal with the cost and strain of moving and finding new accommodation. Nina realised that to move forward, she needed some specialist financial help.

She began exploring her options but struggled to secure a traditional loan. Almost losing hope, she eventually came across Provira’s probate loans and was immediately struck by how innovative and unique their offer was, how well it aligned with her situation and how much they treated her like a human. At long last she felt hopeful that she may be able to get the help she desperately needed.

She admits to worrying that it all felt a little too good to be true and having some early reservations mainly because she had never heard of a loan that didn’t rely on credit checks or monthly repayments. However, within minutes of speaking to Tracey at Provira, any fears were allayed, and she knew she was in safe hands.

“I didn’t think we had this product in the UK.  I did wonder briefly, can it be a scam? But then I rang them, and they were amazing. You could immediately feel this very warm, normal & human attitude. The people working there are very good, intelligent and experienced people. When you’re dealing with grief you need this kind of calm and respectful attitude. It was a nice feeling, like no one’s trying to sell you something.”

She also recalls how Provira staff weren’t at all pushy. At no point did she feel pressured to go ahead with anything she didn’t feel comfortable with.

“They gave me the information then told me to think about it for a couple of days. There are no underwater stones about it, no surprises, they’ll let you know if they can or can’t make it work.”

Creating a brighter present

When the Inheritance Advance came through for Nina, it was a transformative moment. For her it wasn’t just the money she was grateful for, it was the creation of a long-absent feeling of security in her life.

With the money from the Inheritance Advance, she was able to pay bills, consolidate existing debts and look ahead with a greater sense of calm and resilience. She’s been able to better handle health setbacks, the stress associated with the house move and in general, everything feels more manageable and less panicked.

“Given everything that I’ve been through it’s very difficult to talk about the future, I don’t know what’s going to happen but Provira has certainly made my present much brighter.”
